YATRAN HISTORY

The Yatran is a mighty river in the Ukraine
and accurately describes the forcefulness
and fluidity of our dancers. The Yatran Dance Academy
is a non-profit community group, which was founded in 1987
and incorporated in 1989. We have been in our current location for 9 years. Yatran is pleased to welcome back Anna and Vasyl Kanevets Yatran has performed at festivals, cultural events, private functions (weddings, anniversaries) and Malanka (Ukrainian New Year’s Eve).
Yatran competes at several competitions throughout the year.
We are strong competitors and traditionally Yatran has brought
home outstanding awards and honors, as well as scholarships
for the students.
Yatran has performed at the Penticton Peach Festival
and received honorable commendations. Yatran was one
of few groups chosen to perform in Disneyland in the
spring of 2007. In 2009 our performance in Orlando,
Florida was in front of a crowd of over 600 spectators at
DISNEY WORLD . In February 2011 Yatran has been asked to
perform in Puerto Vallarta....

Our Goal:
Yatran is committed to teaching Ukrainian traditional dance and is devoted to nurturing the Ukrainian heritage through dance with an experience that is exciting, inspirational, and educational while encouraging interest in Ukrainian dance and culture.
